What's SUDS? Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems. This is all to do with the management of surface water at source with the aim of reducing downstream flooding. This considers the long term environmental and social factors in decisions about drainage. It looks at the quantity and quality about drainage, and the reuse of surface water in the urban environment. Many existing urban drainage systems can cause problems of flooding, pollution or damage to the environment and are not viewed as sustainable.
