Environmentally Sustainable Insulation Products.

Isover glass mineral wool insulation is manufactured from a combination of silica sand and up to 80% recycled post-consumer glass from building regeneration projects or flat glass manufacture that would otherwise go to landfill.

Isover RD35 – A Robust Details approved acoustic party wall insulation

Saint-Gobain Isover’s RD35 (E-WM-8, E-WM-14 and E-WM-15) enables house builders to cut costs and gain credits towards the Code for Sustainable Homes rating.

Made from up to 80 per cent recycled material, it is vastly more environmentally friendly than cement. The basic wall construction of E-WM-8 ensures one credit under the Code for Sustainable Homes, while increasing the design cavity with E-WM-14 to 100mm attracts three credits.

In addition, RD35 is proven with Aircrete blocks with the new Robust Detail E-WM-15 which also gives one credit under the Code for Sustainable Homes. Research by Isover has shown that the RD35 (E-WM-8) system can create cost savings of more than 20 per cent in materials and labour because the party wall does not have to be plastered on both sides and the contractor does not have to wait for the parge coats to dry.

Cavity Wall System (CWS)

• Non-combustible, silicone-impregnated glass mineral wool slab.

• Supplied in a variety of thicknesses, in 1200mm x 455mm dimension, compatible with conventional wall tie spacing.

• CWS is designed to be installed during construction in the cavity between two masonry leaves in external walls.

Cavity Wall Insulation
ISOVER CWS/Hi-Cav 32 is manufactured in slab form. The slabs are compression packed in individual packs using a strong polythene packaging film. The packs are then stacked on wooden pallets with final weatherproof outer covering giving the option of outside storage.

Product Performance & Characteristics

• Thermal Performance
  A cavity wall of brick outer leaf and a concrete block inner leaf finished internally with 12.5mm Gyproc Wallboard on dabs and with ISOVER CWS insulation batts completely filling the wall cavity. U-value calculation assumes 6.7% mortar fraction. Calculated to the combined method of BS EN ISO 6946. The Thermal
  conductivity (Lambda value) of ISOVER CWS is 0.036 W/m2.K.

• Acoustic Performance
  ISOVER CWS helps to minimise the transfer of flanking sound transmission along wall cavities. Walls incorporating full-fill ISOVER CWS/Hi-Cav 32 batts will therefore constitute an effective design to help meet acoustic Building Regulation requirements.

• Fire Performance
  Euroclass A1 fire rating when classified in accordance with BS EN 13501-1. When used as a full cavity fill, ISOVER CWS/ Hi-Cav 32 constitutes a cavity fire barrier.

• Installation Guidelines
  ISOVER CWS/Hi-Cav 32 should be installed in accordance with guidelines contained in BBA Certificate 90/2465 (Detail sheets 7 & 8), which can be downloaded from the Isover website www.isover.co.uk or BBA website www.bbacerts.co.uk

New Build Properties: The required U-value for roof, floor and wall elements will be decided by the designer based on a whole-building computer assessment of carbon emissions (SAP 2005 for dwellings and Simplified Building Energy Model or SBEM for non-dwellings). The U-value can vary depending upon several factors, including air leakage rate and heating fuel type.
