Geotextile Geogrids

Geogrids are an excellent way of increasing the amount of usable land on a site by enabling construction of steep greenslopes or walls, enabling construction of a road over poor ground conditions or decreasing the thickness of fill required.

A geosynthetic material manufactured from polymers such as polypropylene, polyethylene or polyester, Geogrids provide tensile strength in the reinforcement of soil which tends to pull apart under tension. They are used in the construction of retaining walls, steep slopes, roadway bases and foundations.

INCLUDED IN THE RANGE

At Civils and Lintels we work with Wrekin products and other UK based manufacturers to supply a wide range of Geotextile grids.

Our range of Geogrids include E Grid Biaxial, Uniaxial and SX Grid as well as Ecoblock 39, 45, 70 and heavy ranges.

Wrekin E Grid Rigid Biaxial – This system from Wrekin can solve pavement problems by providing omni-axial reinforcement to granular sub-bases, capping layers & railway ballasts in areas of weak or variable soils. When granular particles are compacted over these grids, they partially penetrate and project through the apertures to create a strong and positive interlock. The load dispersal effect from the interlocking mechanism increases shearing resistance within the soil, improving compaction and allowing the sub-base thickness to be decreased, ultimately reducing construction time & costs. Typical applications of this product include ground stabilisation under roads, railways and paved areas.

Wrekin E Grid Uniaxial – E Grid Uniaxial’s principal characteristic is good creep performance with low strain and high strength under constant load. Soil banks are constructed by wrapping E Grid Uniaxial geogrid around the soil face to the required slope angle, this process is repeated in layers to create a stable/steep embankment. Reinforced soil retaining walls can be constructed with a variety of faces, these structures can accommodate base deformation and have particularly good resistance to vibration and earthquakes. E Grid reinforcement can improve the bearing capacity and safety of a structure whilst helping to reduce construction cost. E Grid is available in tensile strength from 50 kN/m to 170 kN/m.

Wrekin SX Grid – Biaxial SX GRID can solve pavement problems by providing omni-axial reinforcement to granular sub-bases, capping layers & railway ballasts in areas of weak or variable soils. When granular particles are compacted over these grids, they extend into the soil. This load dispersal effect increases shearing resistance within the soil, improving compaction and allowing the sub base thickness to be decreased, ultimately reducing construction time and costs. Typical applications include construction haul roads, paved and unpaved roads, railways and ports, working platforms on weak sub-soils and parking and paved areas.

Wrekin NeoWeb – The PRS-Neoweb cellular confinement system has been designed to prevent shear failure and lateral movement of aggregate materials. A perforated panelled system, PRS-Neoweb stabilises the infill, providing load distribution over weak soils and base stabilisation for paved and unpaved roads. It permits the use of common fill materials even in locations of high load intensity and reduces the granular fill requirement by up to 50%. Manufactured from high density polyethylene (HDPE), PRS-Neoweb when infilled provides a semi-rigid foundation. Traffic loads are distributed laterally, reducing rutting and assisting in the retention of infill materials.
